Dr. Alicia Dorsey is the Associate Vice President for Academic Effectiveness & Planning, and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) Accreditation Liaison. She previously served as Assistant Provost for Institutional Effectiveness. As Associate Vice President, her responsibilities include coordinating curricular program changes and new academic program development for Texas A&M University.
Dr. Dorsey facilitates the curricular review process, with particular attention to the complete and accurate submission of all documentation required by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, as well as SACSCOC. She oversees the Office of Institutional Effectiveness, providing direction and coordination of assessment of all academic programs. Additionally, Dr. Dorsey leads the state-required academic program review process.
Dr. Dorsey joined Texas A&M in January 1997 as an assistant professor in the Department of Communication and then became a tenured associate professor in the School of Rural Public Health at the Texas A&M Health Science Center. She served as the Vice President for Program Development and Community Outreach for the Texas A&M Health Science Center and as the Associate Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs and SACSCOC Liaison at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center (before returning to Texas A&M in 2015). She holds a master’s degree in communication from Indiana University and a Ph.D. in communication from Purdue University.
